Lise is a Marriage and Family Therapist who works with individuals, couples and families of all kinds.  Though mainly raised in the Fraser Valley of B.C., she found her way back to her prairie roots and started her own family and counselling practice in Steinbach. Lise grew up visiting her grandfather’s farm in Piney, Manitoba and witnessed the dedicated, hard work of the farming family’s life.  In Abbotsford B.C. Lise lived surrounded by farms, and had her first job as a raspberry picker in the summer.  It was common for her family to source meats and produce directly from the farms and the many local farmer’s markets that B.C was able to offer.  Today, she practices her own green thumb with her gardens at home.

In her first career, Lise knew intimately the chronic stress (and many joys) of a hard physical job that did not run on a set schedule, and was dependant on the working season.  Uncertainty about finances and what the next year might look like was a normal way of life for her.  Also in her first career, Lise was gifted opportunities to visit farms and rural farm communities in Canada and abroad.  The innovation and drive of farm families is an inspiration to her.

As a relationship and family therapist her approach to therapy is compassionate, authentic, and creative.  She works systemically, and believes we are all doing the best we know how to do, and have the ability to change when we learn how to engage differently with ourselves and with the people in our lives.  In all her work she holds the space for a person to feel vulnerable, yet supported while empowering them to look within for internal strengths as a foundation for the work. Lise doesn’t shy away from any topic and is an ally for individuals from various cultural or social backgrounds as well as different expressions of gender and sexuality.
